INDUCTION AND SUPPORT
It is planned to hold a regular Tutor's Day each year in order to induct new tutors into the Engage! system and support the development of the tutoring and the tutors.

PLANNING
It will be the responsibility of the tutor to liase with the National Office on dates and locations, and with the venue co-ordinator for the timing of the sessions.

DELIVERY
Notes and suggestions for delivery of each module will be available to Tutors. It will be left to them to decide what material they would wish to use. The criteria is that the Learning Outcomes must be met and taught material must supplement and/or explain the written material in the Learner’s Handbook.

LEARNERS
It will be the responsibility of Tutors to keep in touch with learners and encourage them in the continuation of learning. The National Office can provide appropriate administrative support.

HANDBOOKS
These will be available from the CYM National Office and need to be ordered well in advance. There are also Handbooks for Mentors.

LEARNERS’ FEES
These will either be paid directly to CYM National Office or will need to be collected at the event. The National Office will advise.

TUTOR’S FEES
These will be paid by the CYM National Office.
In the case of Tutors invited by CYM to deliver a module, the fee will normally be £150 per teaching day.
If the tutor is also the local co-ordinator and they are happy to work with less than 15 students, then the fee will be worked out pro rata at the rate of £10 per student.
Travelling expenses will be paid to those Tutors who are invited by CYM to deliver a module. Local Co-ordinator/Tutors are presumed not to have travelled!
An invoice needs to be sent by the Tutor to the National Office at the end of each teaching day.

ASSESSMENT
A qualified assessor will normally undertake assessment. An Internal Verifier will be appointed by the Centre for Youth Ministry’s Certificate Development Group to oversee the assessment process and to act as the second marked for submissions.

SUBMISSIONS
Learners wishing their work to be assessed will be required to submit work normally within one year of the date of delivery of the teaching. If you need longer, then do please contact your Tutor. (You can always show your Tutor your work first and get their ideas on how it could be presented / improved to achieve the result you are aiming for.)

For each Module Learners will be expected to submit the Submission Sheet with the hours signed off; their Course Diary sheets completed through the module, and the Exercises which are found in the Distance Learning Handbook.

LEVEL
The level at which the learner is assessed will depend upon the work submitted. Students should do their best and then the Tutor/Assessors’ job is to decide at which level the learner has been working. If it is felt that the material could be brought up to a higher level with extra work, it can be returned to the learner and re-submitted, normally once only.

MARKING
Criteria for each Module’s submission is contained in the Module Descriptor in the Handbook. This will be the criteria against which the work will be assessed.
A selection of submissions will be double-marked by another Assessor (minimum 10%) and an Internal Verifier will assess a selection at each Certificate Assessment Board to ensure equivalence of assessment.
Once the work has been assessed and returned to the National Office, CYM will send out a provisional result to the learner together with an indication of other work which could bring the material up to the next level.

ASSESSMENT BOARD
There will normally be a Certificate Assessment Board (CAB) in each academic term. The CAB will agree the marks for work submitted since the last meeting and discuss any borderline cases or issues which arise. The External Verifier will normally be involved in this meeting

FEES FOR ASSESSMENT
These are £10 per module submission for the first assessor and £3 per module submission for the Internal Verification or double-marking.

FEEDBACK
Feedback will be provided to the learner through the Feedback Sheet for each module. This will indicate if the Learning Outcomes have been met and include notes to encourage the learning.
