Course delivery

The course will be taught through two 4-day study blocks each year, and supported by regional seminar groups, private study, practice and reflection, plus email contact with tutors. The course will normally take three years, but may be completed in two.

Dates for 2008/2009

  • Semester One - 1st September 2008 to 28th February 2009
  • Study Block - 8th - 11th September 2008 Oxford Brookes University, Wheatley Campus (Accommodation may be available in Brookes' Halls of Residence)
  • Semester Two - 1st March 2009 to 31st August 2009
  • Study Block - 2nd - 5th March 2009 Bristol Baptist College (Accommodation may be available at Trinity Theological College, Bristol)

Accommodation is the student's responsibility.

Students will be required to find their own overnight accommodation but the cost of food is included in the course fees.

The MA can be completed in two calendar years by taking two modules per semester and the Dissertation between the end of the second semester and the beginning of the following one.

It is expected, however, that the majority of students will prefer to complete the Dissertation element of the programme in a third year. The maximum length of time for the completion of the MA programme is five years.

Assessment

Students will normally complete one module per semester. Each module will be assessed by the equivalent of a 7,500 word assignment. Guide assignment titles are suggested but precise titles are to be negotiated between student and tutor to reflect their interest and context in relation to each module.

There will be a pre-course work pack which students will receive three weeks before each study block.

Each module is worth 30 credits.
